Legacy Sessions
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest journeys we walk. It is never an ideal situation but I am here to guide you in their final moments and good-byes to their family. Hurting Hearts sessions are designed to give you a quiet, compassionate space to honor the unconditional love you’ve shared. These sessions are gentle, unhurried, and focused on capturing the connection, comfort, and closeness that mean the most in this tender time. Whether for dogs, cats, or equine partners, these photographs become treasured memories to hold onto when your heart needs them most. Many of my clients find these sessions healing and joyful because you can spend that time spoiling them with all their favorite snacks, taking a favorite walk or just laying quietly in the grass in their favorite spot in the yard.
Proud Partner of The Tilly Project
I am honored to partner with The Tilly Project, a nonprofit organization devoted to increasing awareness and support for end-of-life pet photography. Their mission is to help families navigate this emotional chapter with dignity, resources, and compassionate imagery that celebrates the bond between humans and their animal companions.
I have been honored to be loved by so many amazing animals in my years and I wished I this was available for me to have that memory of their final days of love. Wile these sessions are sad, my goal is to capture the love and companionship you have with your beloved animal big or small. To capture that devotion of their love and your love to them. These sessions are to celebrate their life being a loved partner in your family.
What is offered with Legacy Sessions.
Everyone’s grief looks different. Whether you’re preparing to say goodbye or you’ve already lost your beloved companion, this time is tender, emotional, and uniquely your own. My goal is to make your Legacy Session as gentle and stress-free as possible, so you can simply focus on being with your furry family member.
To support you during this season, I’ve simplified the process. There is no ordering appointment required after your session—we’ll save those decisions for when your heart is ready.
With a one-time Legacy Session fee of $200, you’ll receive 20 high-resolution digital images. If you’d like to explore artwork or a window folio box, we can talk about those options whenever it feels right. Some clients prefer to choose their artwork in advance, while others wait until later—both are completely okay.
Your $200 session fee can also be applied as an art credit toward any products you decide to purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions about Legacy Sessions
-
Legacy sessions are calm, gentle, and completely led by your pet’s comfort. There’s no posing or pressure — just quiet moments with the person they trust most. I move slowly and work around whatever your pet needs, so the experience feels peaceful and natural for both of you. You’re going through something incredibly hard, and I’m here to support you with care every step of the way.
If you do not want to remember them in their final moments, that’s ok. A Legacy Session isn’t for everyone.
-
I’ve never had a client regret taking photos with their pet — only wishing they had done it sooner. While every stage of your pet’s life is worth celebrating, sessions become especially meaningful when they begin to slow down or after a diagnosis. Things can change quickly, so sooner is always better.
I know acknowledging this chapter can feel scary, but I’m here to make the experience gentle, peaceful, and filled with the love you share. My goal is for you to walk away with comforting, meaningful images that help carry you through the days ahead.
-
Legacy Sessions aren’t about photographing illness or focusing on grief. These sessions are all about celebrating what makes your pet happiest. Maybe that’s a slow walk under the evergreens, playing fetch in a favorite park, or simply cuddling together on a blanket by the water.
My goal is to capture your connection at its most authentic and gentle. I want you to look back on these images with love, joy, and the deep reminder of how special it was to be loved by your pet.
-
That is completely okay! My top priority is making sure your pet is happy and comfortable. We’ll talk through locations that reflect who they are — whether that’s an easy trail that brings back memories of the mountains they once loved, or simply snuggling on the couch or bed with their favorite people. Wherever they feel most at ease, we’ll capture those genuine, candid moments you can hold onto in the days and years to come.

Legacy Sessions can sometimes not be scheduled in advanced. I will try everything I can to be available last minute requests. Majority of my sessions are during the week but I try to always make exceptions and photograph these sessions on the weekend. If for some reason I cannot make the timeline, I will try everything to find someone else or you can look at Tilly’s Project for other photographers.
Time limits are out the window for these sessions. I want to ensure your pet and you do not feel rushed or uncomfortable. I’ll have the tissues and we can take as many breaks as you and your pet needs.
I’ll work closely with you to figure out the best location so we make sure this is the happiest experience as possible.
